Principal's Message

Welcome Back Merrill Families!

I know this is not the start of the year we all imagined but it will still be an amazing year because we are all in this together. There are a few updates for September and has we head into October. Please remember to read our updated Merrill Family Handbook and the A/B scheduled Days to help students navigate this "new" reality of school.

Next week we will have Get To Know You (GTKY)Conferences virtually with the teaching staff.  The link to sign up for conferences was sent via Infinite Campus. Another reminder will be send out soon. GTKY conferences is a great way to connect with your child's teacher one on one. GTKY will be held on September 15 and 17 from 3:30- 7:00 pm.

Also, please make note of the  Wednesday Early Release Dates for students this year. Students will be dismissed at 12:30 PM on the following Wednesdays:

  • September 16
  • October 14
  • November 11
  • December 9
  • January 6
  • February 10
  • March 10
  • April 14
  • May 12

Staff will be participating in various collaboration sessions on these early dismissal days.  Their work day is actually extended beyond the regular work day to allow for large blocks of collaboration time as a team, building, or district.

Mark your calendars; School Pictures are October 5 and 6 this year. Both in-person and eAcademy students will be have access to taking school photos at Merrill Elementary school.

As always, we will continue to work together to ensure our students are learning in the best environment everyday.

Sincerely,

Tanya Fenner

Picture Day

Picture Day(s) will be on October 5th and 6th. We are doing two days so that all in building students will have their pictures taken on their normal in building day.

Eacademy students, we would love to see your smiling face on picture day. October 5th between the hours of 8am-11am and October 6th between 7:30am-10:30am. Come within those hours to Door 7 we will have you sign in and walk you up to get your picture taken. Parents please note only students will be allowed in the building.

Here is the link for parents to order pictures and pre-pay online for them.  This option is the best as it alleviates having more physical contact and lets parents order directly from their homes.

WHERE SHOULD I PARK?

Parking is ONLY allowed in the “loading zone” if you are dropping off or picking up and staying in your car for a brief period of time (5 minutes). You may NOT leave your vehicle in the loading zone. If you need to come inside you must park in a parking lot or where street parking is allowed. This is the RIGHT side of Kentucky Street.

WHERE SHOULDN’T I PARK?

NEVER park on the LEFT side of Kentucky Street.  The police patrol our street and you will be ticketed.  Be aware of the orange cones and stay clear.

WHAT ABOUT THE BUSES?

PLEASE do not park close to the corner of Kentucky and New York Avenue – buses are unable to make the turn onto the street.  Please respect and be courteous to all buses and their drivers —they have a challenging job.

Merrill Elementary students  are dismissed at 2:45. Early Release dismissal is at 12:30.
